NASA: 2024 will be a record hot year
World
Experts believe there is a 50 percent chance that 2023 will be the hottest year on record. Because 2024 is expected to be even warmer.
At the moment, 2023 is recognized as the third hottest year on record. However, it is likely that the rating will change in the coming months. This was reported by NASA scientists.
“2023 is in the top five hottest years 99 percent of the time and is likely to be the hottest year nearly 50 percent of the time,” said Sarah Kapnick, chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, said 2024 could be even warmer than 2023.
Schmidt predicts that the El Niño effect will peak in 2024.
For your information, July 2023 was the hottest month in 174 years when global ocean temperatures also reached record levels.
