The International Fencing Federation has also confirmed that Tashkent is set to host the 2027 Senior World Fencing Championships. The congress comes alongside a series of FIE meetings in the Uzbek capital. On September 15, the FIE Executive Committee held a meeting in Tashkent, where governance and development issues for the sport were discussed. More than 150 delegates from over 100 countries have gathered in Tashkent for the 6th International Fencing Congress. The event is focusing on the development of fencing, improvements to international competitions and the preparation of a new generation of athletes.

According to the official website of the President of Azerbaijan, Aliyev made the remarks on September 15 in Baku during a meeting with participants of international conferences. &ldquo;This is their true face. I say this with full responsibility &mdash; the European Parliament is a hotbed of bribery,&rdquo; Aliyev said. According to him, European institutions did not impose sanctions on Armenia during a period when, according to Baku, the Armenian side controlled Azerbaijani territories. However, after Azerbaijan restored control over Karabakh in September 2023, European institutions increased pressure on Baku. Aliyev also referred to the case involving Eva Kaili, saying that millions of dollars had been taken from the home of the former European Parliament vice-president. Kaili was detained by Belgian authorities in December 2022 as part of a corruption investigation known as Qatargate. The investigation is ongoing. In 2025, the General Court of the European Union issued a ruling in a separate case concerning Kaili&rsquo;s access to documents; the case was not related to determining her guilt. The Azerbaijani president also said that European institutions apply double standards to Baku and Yerevan. He linked the deterioration of relations with European institutions to developments surrounding Karabakh and subsequent decisions by European organizations. Aliyev separately accused Western media of conducting what he described as a negative campaign against Azerbaijan and said that some reports contained &ldquo;lies, slander and insults.&rdquo; These characterizations represent the Azerbaijani president&rsquo;s assessment. Aliyev also accused European institutions of Islamophobia and called for unity among the Turkic, Caucasian and Islamic worlds. We discussed important areas and major projects that we can implement in the near future,&rdquo; she said. She noted that such discussions begin with setting priorities and examining pressing issues. The team then considers different solutions and selects those that could deliver the best results. According to Saida Mirziyoyeva, discussing each issue in detail with the entire team helps identify more opportunities and find more effective solutions. This approach also allows the team to move from discussion to concrete tasks and practical proposals. &ldquo;Based on the results, we identify specific tasks and develop proposals that we then present to the President,&rdquo; she said. The central event was a meeting with President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung. The two sides confirmed their readiness to take their special strategic partnership to a new level. Trade, investment, critical minerals, transport, infrastructure and advanced technologies were identified among the key areas of cooperation. Cooperation was also discussed during meetings with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik. The agenda included trade and economic ties, investment, technology, transport and logistics, as well as innovation, the digital economy, cybersecurity, critical-mineral processing and interregional cooperation. Meetings with major Korean companies and financial institutions formed another important part of the visit. More than 300 representatives of government bodies and business communities from the two countries took part in the Uzbekistan-Korea Business Forum. Following the visit, a portfolio of prospective investment projects worth around $12 billion was prepared. A new $8 billion strategic partnership programme with the Export-Import Bank of Korea was also signed. Its priorities include high-speed trains, the establishment of a Bio-Center, critical-mineral processing and digital technology development. The two sides also adopted a package of bilateral documents covering transport, aviation, agriculture, tourism, artificial intelligence, education, healthcare, environmental protection, climate change and intellectual property. On 16 September, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the first Central Asia&ndash;Republic of Korea Summit. The event, chaired by President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung, was also attended by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In accordance with the agenda, the leaders considered prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea in priority areas, including security, practical cooperation based on complementary strengths, and the expansion of humanitarian exchanges. In his address, the President of Uzbekistan noted that as early as 2007, the Republic of Korea, demonstrating strategic foresight, was among the first to recognize Central Asia&rsquo;s immense potential for close and mutually beneficial partnership within a multilateral format. &quot;We sincerely appreciate the significant contribution of the Korean side to the industrialization of our countries, the modernization of infrastructure, and the creation of a strong foundation for sustainable development,&quot; emphasized Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The first area covers the formation of a long-term planning horizon for the partnership. &ldquo;In today&rsquo;s world, the pace of global change increasingly outstrips the ability of states to adapt. Artificial intelligence is transforming the labor market and entire industries. Climate and water risks require solutions for decades to come. New demands are emerging for education, infrastructure, technology, and human capital,&rdquo; stated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In response to these challenges, the President proposed developing a long-term conceptual Vision &ndash; &ldquo;Central Asia &ndash; Republic of Korea: Partnership for Accelerated Development.&rdquo; A key focus of joint efforts should also be ensuring the security of the digital future by developing mechanisms for the early detection and prevention of cyber threats. The second area is aimed at bringing trade, economic and investment potential into a unified business logic. &ldquo;Today, Central Asia is no longer merely a supplier of raw materials. Our countries are becoming increasingly integrated into global value chains, expanding opportunities for innovation and technological cooperation,&rdquo; emphasized the President. The Leader of Uzbekistan supported the initiative to establish a platform for meetings of ministers responsible for industry and trade, which will enable the participating countries to jointly identify effective solutions for significantly increasing mutual trade and bringing trade between the countries of the region and Korea to $20 billion by 2030. As part of efforts to strengthen industrial and investment cooperation, the President expressed readiness to establish the &ldquo;Central Asia&ndash;Korea&rdquo; Industrial and Technological Park in Uzbekistan, which will serve as an innovation and production base for the regional market. The establishment of direct partnerships between the regions of the participating countries was identified as an important driver of economic cooperation. In this regard, representatives of regional authorities and businesses from all countries were invited to take part in the Third Interregional Forum of Central Asia and Korea, to be held next year in Samarkand. The third area is intended to open a new chapter in cooperation on critical minerals. &ldquo;Given the rapidly growing global demand for these valuable resources and the region&rsquo;s vast reserves of critical minerals, Central Asia has the potential to become one of the world&rsquo;s leading suppliers,&rdquo; stated the Leader of Uzbekistan. In this regard, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed establishing a Regional Investment Alliance for Critical Minerals aimed at creating strong processing clusters across the region, covering the entire value chain &ndash; from geological exploration to the deep processing of raw materials and the production of high value-added goods. The fourth area of cooperation stems from the need to advance green development and strengthen climate change adaptation. With the aim of combining complementary capabilities, the President proposed launching a Climate and Carbon Partnership between Central Asia and Korea. The fifth area focuses on joint efforts to unlock the potential of the younger generation. Central Asia has significant demographic potential, with young people under the age of 30 accounting for more than half of the population. &ldquo;It is critically important for us that the younger generation becomes part of the modern technological economy, gaining access to advanced knowledge, competencies, and international experience,&rdquo; emphasized President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In this regard, the Leader of Uzbekistan proposed establishing a long-term Partnership in Human Capital Development based on a clear principle: &ldquo;order-training-employment.&rdquo; Young people have an important role to play in the joint development and deployment of artificial intelligence. In this context, the President proposed making President Lee Jae Myung&rsquo;s &ldquo;Indispensable Korea&rdquo; doctrine one of the key pillars of this large-scale process in Central Asia. In conclusion, the President noted that Uzbekistan is ready to host high-level celebratory events next year marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Korea and the 90th anniversary of the Korean diaspora&rsquo;s presence in the region. The other leaders also addressed the summit. One of the school&rsquo;s key areas is STEM education, covering mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and IT. The educational model places emphasis not only on theoretical knowledge but also on developing students&rsquo; ability to work independently and conduct research. Students will study English and Chinese at an advanced level, combining language development with training in science and technology-related subjects. The programme therefore combines modern academic disciplines with the study of the country&rsquo;s national language and cultural heritage.
