A New Bulletproof Armored Car Has Been Developed for Putin
Technology
The Rida tuning company from Nizhny Novgorod, specializing in armored vehicles, has unveiled an extended Aurus Komendant armored model. This vehicle was developed in collaboration with Russia's renowned Aurus company and is equipped with the latest security and protection technologies.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s personal garage holds approximately 15 bulletproof luxury cars. Previously, his motorcade included Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman, but since his 2018 inauguration, he has been using the Aurus Senat, which he now relies on for both domestic and international travel.
The extended Aurus Komendant is 500 mm longer than the standard model and features a 7 mm thick armored capsule and 50 mm bulletproof glass. It is resistant to AKM assault rifle and SVD sniper rifle bullets. The protection level is classified as B6/B7, and the vehicle is fitted with special off-road tires for enhanced mobility in difficult terrains.
Within the presidential motorcade, Putin’s exact vehicle is always kept a secret. This information is only accessible to his security service and a select group of officials.
Additionally, when traveling abroad, the presidential motorcade receives local diplomatic license plates. Interestingly, the license plates for each vehicle can be changed before every trip, depending on the host country’s regulations.
President Vladimir Putin shared his thoughts on Aurus vehicles:
"Aurus is very expensive, but we produce it in limited numbers. Now it is also being manufactured abroad. For example, in the UAE, it is used for cash transportation. Our friends in the Emirates really like this car."
Thus, Aurus cars are not only an essential security feature for Russian leadership but are also making their mark in the international market.
