Adiz Boboev confirmed as governor of the Samarkand region

Deputies of the Samarkand regional council have confirmed Adiz Boboev as the new governor after his nomination by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who set the task of turning the region into a model of economic development and poverty reduction.

Adiz Boboev has been confirmed as the governor of the Samarkand region. The decision was made on 25 November during a session of the regional council after his candidacy was proposed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidential press service reported.

During his visit to the region, Mirziyoyev emphasized that Samarkand needs a leader “with modern thinking, capable of systematic problem analysis and proposing innovative solutions.” The president stated that the new governor must transform the region into a model in job creation, poverty reduction, investment growth, export expansion, lowering production costs and improving energy efficiency.

Since 28 November of last year, Adiz Boboev had been serving as acting governor. Deputies supported his appointment following the voting.

Adiz Boboev, born in 1972, graduated from the Tashkent State University of Economics. He worked in the financial institutions of the Bukhara region and later held various leadership positions in the Ministry of Finance, including heading the Department for Financial Support of State Development Projects. From 2020 to 2023, he served as Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, and later as Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance. From January to November 2024, he chaired the Accounts Chamber.
