Alisher Ismatovich Kuchiev has been appointed Deputy Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Economic Policy. The appointment was formalised by an order signed by the Head of the Presidential Administration, according to Uzbek media reports citing the presidential press service.
Before taking up the new role, Kuchiev worked at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for more than two years. He has an educational background in economics and management and studied at Russia’s Higher School of Economics, UPF Barcelona School of Management and Luiss Business School.
In his new position, Kuchiev will work on economic policy. The official announcement did not provide further details about his specific responsibilities or immediate priorities.
Kamoliddin Mardonov previously took up the position of Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan on Economic Policy. His appointment was announced in early October. Before that, Mardonov served as First Deputy Head of the Department of Legal Expertise and Comprehensive Analysis within the Presidential Administration.
The appointment comes amid broader personnel changes within the Presidential Administration. Earlier reports also announced new appointments in departments responsible for communications and engagement with representative bodies, non-governmental non-profit organisations and youth.
Kuchiev’s appointment expands the team working on economic policy under the President.
