Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Join Forces in Geological Exploration

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are deepening their strategic economic partnership by expanding cooperation in industry, investment, and the mining sector. One of the key outcomes of the latest Intergovernmental Commission meeting was the decision to establish a joint venture for geological exploration in Uzbekistan.

During the working visit of an Azerbaijani delegation led by Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, the 15th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was held. Together with Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, the parties reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral trade, economic, and investment relations.

Particular attention was given to developing new production value chains between Central Asia and the South Caucasus, strengthening transport and logistics links along the Middle Corridor, expanding mutual trade, and implementing strategic investment projects. The discussions also covered cooperation in industry, energy, construction, agriculture, automotive manufacturing, tourism, metallurgy, transport, and logistics.

Following the meeting, the parties signed the protocol of the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission, outlining the next steps for bilateral cooperation.

In addition, AzerGold, Uzbekgeologorazvedka JSC, and the Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Investment Company signed terms for establishing a trilateral joint venture in geological exploration. The initiative предусматривает geological exploration of promising sites in Uzbekistan and the preparation of economically viable investment projects, further strengthening industrial and investment cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector.
