Economy
The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan held a trilateral meeting in Baku to discuss strengthening political dialogue, expanding economic ties and developing transport and logistics cooperation. The talks took place on October 15 on the sidelines of the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
The meeting brought together Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
The sides reviewed the current state of friendly and good-neighbourly relations among the three countries and considered prospects for further mutually beneficial cooperation. Particular attention was given to strengthening political contacts and expanding engagement in trade and economic relations, transport and logistics, and energy.
The development of regional transport corridors was another key topic. The ministers exchanged views on making effective use of the three countries’ transit potential, expanding transport and transit links, and advancing projects of mutual interest.
Participants noted that the trilateral format involving Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan creates additional opportunities for regional cooperation. Closer practical coordination could help the countries make fuller use of their existing potential and strengthen their interconnectedness.
Following the meeting, the sides emphasised the importance of deepening practical cooperation, advancing joint initiatives and continuing coordinated efforts to support regional stability and sustainable development.
