Bakhtiyor Saidov: Dialogue with Japanese Business Should Translate Cooperation into Concrete Projects

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov held a roundtable in Tokyo on September 18 with Takeshi Hashimoto, Chairman of the Japan Business Federation “Keidanren”, as well as executives and representatives of leading Japanese companies. The meeting focused on expanding Uzbekistan-Japan economic cooperation and identifying new investment opportunities.
Representatives of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Sojitz, All Nippon Airways, Shimizu, JETRO, Sumitomo, JBIC, Toyo Engineering, Toyota Tsusho, Marubeni, Mitsui, Mitsubishi and other major Japanese companies took part in the roundtable.
The discussions covered support for Japanese companies operating in Uzbekistan and the implementation of new investment projects. The sides also focused on areas offering new opportunities for further cooperation.
These included energy, transport and logistics, infrastructure, agriculture, textile manufacturing, digitalization and human capital development. The sectors formed an important part of the practical dialogue between the Uzbek side and representatives of Japanese business.
Bakhtiyor Saidov said the meeting was aimed at further developing economic ties and turning cooperation into concrete initiatives.
“Today’s open and practical dialogue was an important step toward filling our cooperation with Japanese business with concrete projects and new initiatives,” the Uzbek foreign minister said.
The roundtable also addressed the continued support of Japanese companies in Uzbekistan, the implementation of new investment projects and opportunities to expand cooperation across priority sectors. Particular attention was given to energy, logistics, infrastructure, agriculture, textiles, digitalization and professional training.
