Behruz Karimov Joins Swiss Club Lugano

Uzbekistan national team defender Behruz Karimov has moved from Termez-based Surkhon to Swiss club Lugano, the Uzbekistan Football Association announced.
The 19-year-old was born on August 7, 2007. He developed at the Odil Junior academy before joining Tashkent-based Olympic and later moving to Surkhon in February 2025. At the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Karimov started Uzbekistan’s matches against Colombia and Portugal.
Founded in 1908, Lugano is one of Switzerland’s historic football clubs. The team has won the Swiss championship three times and the Swiss Cup four times. In the 2025/26 season, Lugano finished third in the Swiss league and secured a place in the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds.
The move marks Karimov’s first step into European club football following his appearance at the 2026 World Cup.
