BMB HOLDING and HT HOLDING Discuss Expanding Saffron Project to 2,000 Hectares

Uzbekistan’s BMB HOLDING and Italy’s HT HOLDING have discussed expanding their joint saffron cultivation project and new investment initiatives. The talks were held on October 5 by BMB HOLDING Chairman of the Founders’ Council Bekzod Mamatkulov and HT HOLDING President Roberto Tucci.

The parties discussed the development of investment cooperation, expansion of existing joint projects and the promotion of new initiatives. A day earlier, on October 4, Mamatkulov and Tucci took part in a demonstration planting of saffron bulbs on new plots in Bakhmal district of Jizzakh region as part of the expansion of BMB ZA’FARON plantations.

One of the key objectives is to increase the area of saffron plantations to 2,000 hectares by the end of 2027. The companies also plan to increase production, expand the export geography of Uzbek saffron and saffron-based products, and enter new international markets.

The talks also focused on prospects for cooperation with the major US retail chain Costco. Beyond the saffron project, BMB HOLDING and HT HOLDING discussed opportunities to implement joint investment projects across various sectors of the economy.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue work on promising initiatives and move mutually beneficial projects into the practical implementation stage.

Roberto Tucci highly assessed the conditions being created in Uzbekistan for investment and entrepreneurship and noted the broad opportunities available to foreign investors. He also expressed gratitude to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for supporting entrepreneurs and foreign investors, creating favorable conditions for business development, and advancing reforms and initiatives.

The parties agreed to make effective use of their accumulated experience and available opportunities to further develop cooperation and jointly implement promising projects.
