Ceremony to Present State Awards Held with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Mark Uzbekistan’s 35th Independence Anniversary

A ceremony to present state awards is being held with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to mark the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence. The head of state congratulated those gathered on the anniversary and highlighted the scale of the transformations carried out in the country in recent years.
“Thirty-five years is a very short period in history. However, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, in terms of scale, achievements and results, the years that have passed have amounted to a century,” the President said.
According to Mirziyoyev, the main drivers of these changes are the country’s hardworking and dedicated citizens. He highlighted the contribution of farmers, teachers, doctors, scientists, industrial workers, entrepreneurs, builders and architects, as well as professionals in culture, the arts and sports.
The President emphasized that the strength of independence is also reflected in the work of civil servants, military personnel and law-enforcement officers involved in implementing reforms and ensuring public order and peace.
He also highlighted the contribution of educators and local activists who bring people together around constructive goals.
“In short, the greatest result of New Uzbekistan is a transformed person, a citizen who believes in their own abilities, and a society that feels connected to its future,” the head of state said.
Speaking about the country’s economic performance over the past decade, Mirziyoyev noted that more than $160 billion in foreign investment had been attracted to Uzbekistan during this period. The economy has grown by more than 2.5 times, while GDP is expected to exceed $180 billion in 2026.
Over the past decade, 5.7 million permanent jobs have been created in industry, services and agriculture. With participation from the public and private sectors, modern schools with capacity for 1.2 million students, kindergartens for 342,000 children and hospitals with 62,000 beds have been commissioned.
During the same period, 83,000 kilometers of internal public roads were built and renovated. Centralized water supply systems provided drinking water to 8 million people in the regions, while water services were improved for another 11.5 million people.
Over the past decade, 650,000 families received new modern housing.
The President expressed his deep gratitude to citizens for their dedicated work and noted that Uzbekistan continues to advance toward building a New Uzbekistan where human dignity, justice and progress are upheld.
