CIS Prosecutors Agree on Measures to Recover Assets Held Abroad

Deputy Prosecutors General of the CIS member states discussed new approaches to recovering assets held abroad and agreed on joint measures in this area. The meeting was held in St. Petersburg on August 20 under the chairmanship of Petr Gorodov, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

Delegations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in the meeting, along with Yuri Zhdanov, Executive Secretary of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS member states.

The discussions focused on current challenges and possible solutions related to the recovery of assets located outside the CIS countries. Participants developed joint measures, including a concept for an international treaty within the CIS framework.

The delegations exchanged national experience and proposals for improving cooperation. Particular attention was given to developing direct working contacts between the relevant authorities.

The results of the meeting will be used in preparations for the 36th meeting of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS member states, scheduled to take place in Kazan on September 30.
