Afruza Khamdamova secured an early victory at the FIDE World U-16 Championship for girls, currently taking place in Brazil, according to Uzbekistan’s Chess Federation.
Khamdamova scored 9.5 points in 10 games, winning nine and drawing one. This achievement adds another junior world championship title to her record.
In 2023, Khamdamova was crowned the U-14 world champion, making history as the first Uzbek chess player to achieve a world title.
