Embraer Delivers First C-390 Millennium to Uzbekistan Air Force

Embraer has delivered the first next-generation C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft to the Uzbekistan Air Force. The handover ceremony took place on September 25 at Embraer’s facility in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo state, Brazil.
Uzbekistan has become the first C-390 Millennium operator in Central Asia. The delivery is part of the country’s efforts to modernize its Air Force and expand its operational capabilities. The contract, signed at the end of 2024, includes not only aircraft deliveries but also a comprehensive training and support package and the supply of spare parts.
Embraer previously said the C-390 would be used by the Uzbekistan Air Force primarily for transport and humanitarian missions. The aircraft is designed to perform a wide range of tasks, including cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, search-and-rescue operations, humanitarian missions and firefighting.
The C-390 Millennium can carry up to 26 tonnes of payload and reach speeds of up to 470 knots. It can also operate from temporary or unpaved runways, expanding its potential use in different operating environments. In an appropriate configuration, the aircraft can conduct aerial refuelling of other aircraft and receive fuel in flight itself.
At the handover ceremony, Major General Akhmad Jamolovich Burkhonov, Commander of the Uzbekistan Air Force, said the delivery of the C-390 represented an important step in modernizing the country’s Air Force. He said the aircraft’s performance, versatility and multi-mission capabilities would allow a broad range of missions to be carried out with greater efficiency and readiness.
The C-390 Millennium has also been selected by the air forces of Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Slovakia and Lithuania. With the delivery of its first aircraft, Uzbekistan has joined the group of countries operating the platform.
