A greenhouse complex established in the Kegeyli district on the initiative of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction is playing an active role in this effort. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the complex&#39;s operations. The complex received 12.5 billion soums in concessional funding, which was used to build a modern, lightweight-structure greenhouse covering five hectares. As a result, the first phase has engaged 50 families listed in the Social Registry, providing them with permanent jobs. Each participating family in need has been allocated 1,000 square meters (10 *sotkas*) of greenhouse space. The &quot;lead entrepreneur&quot; overseeing the complex does more than just provide land and greenhouses; over a two-year period, they provide on-site training to help participants acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to set up greenhouse operations on their own household plots and establish a stable source of income. Crucially, the agricultural produce grown by the families will be purchased by the lead entrepreneur at market prices. Furthermore, the greenhouse complex serves as a training center, teaching modern greenhouse and agricultural management techniques to up to 1,000 citizens annually. This system is designed to provide a guaranteed and stable income source for the local population. Additional opportunities have also been created to further increase family incomes. Duck farming is being conducted on a 350-meter canal adjacent to the greenhouse complex, with a flock of 500 ducks. Under the project, each family has been provided with 10 breeding ducks of the &quot;Favorite&quot; breed, imported from Brazil. Residents are receiving detailed instruction on the techniques for raising them. This project is considered vital for fostering entrepreneurship and ensuring employment in rural areas. Special recognition is given to the approach of modern entrepreneurs who strive not only to grow their own businesses but also to help improve people&#39;s quality of life. The project makes extensive use of modern, resource-efficient technologies. New Initiative in Kegeyli Provides Fifty Families with a Steady Income Source

Following the talks, the National Committee and the Korea Forest Service (KFS) signed a memorandum of understanding on digital forest restoration and climate action. One of the priorities will be a major joint project to restore land in the Aral Sea region and combat desertification, drawing on the experience of the Korea&ndash;Mongolia Greenbelt project. The sides also agreed to develop a cooperation roadmap for 2027&ndash;2029 and establish cooperation with relevant Korean organizations under Uzbekistan&rsquo;s programme to create 27 botanical and dendrological gardens. During talks with the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO), specific steps were outlined to complete Uzbekistan&rsquo;s accession process and launch joint projects. For 2027&ndash;2029, the Fergana region is set to host the &ldquo;Green Globe Project Uzbekistan Pine Forest&rdquo;, a joint initiative involving Uzbekistan, AFoCO and KT&amp;G, financed by the Republic of Korea. Three additional projects are also to be prepared, covering high-tech nurseries, modernization of an in vitro laboratory, carbon projects and the commercialization of drought-resistant crops. The parties also plan to prepare a joint application to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for large-scale landscape restoration in the Aral Sea region. A separate memorandum was signed with the Korea National Park Service (KNPS) on the management of protected natural areas, biodiversity conservation, ecotourism and environmental education. The first pilot project will be the creation of a model &ldquo;Uzbekistan&ndash;Korea&rdquo; national park. The agreements also cover the establishment of a modern visitor centre, mountain ranger and search-and-rescue services, the provision of modern equipment for national parks, and a unified digital monitoring centre for protected natural areas. Aziz Abduhakimov also took part in the Korea&ndash;Central Asia Ministerial Forum on Forests and Climate and the Ministerial Dialogue held in South Korea. Ukraine has launched a new regional cooperation format — the Carpathian Eight (C8). The inaugural summit is being held in the Carpathians with the participation of Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, Czechia, Austria, Hungary and the European Union.

According to Ishmetov, Uzbekistan&rsquo;s gold and foreign-exchange reserves stood at $72 billion as of September 1, providing coverage for more than a year of imports. During the first half of the year, the country increased its gold reserves by around 50 tonnes, the second-largest increase among central banks, according to the World Gold Council. Gold traditionally accounts for a significant share of Uzbekistan&rsquo;s reserves because the country is a gold producer. At the same time, the Central Bank has been gradually expanding its portfolio. In 2020, it joined the World Bank&rsquo;s partnership on reserve advisory and management, while in 2024 it made its first purchase of US Treasury securities. &ldquo;We intend to move toward further diversification &mdash; across asset classes, currencies and counterparties,&rdquo; Ishmetov said. One of the next steps will be external management of part of the portfolio. According to the Central Bank chairman, this would allow its specialists to work alongside leading global professionals and gain practical experience from them. The move comes as the structure of official reserves worldwide is also changing. The World Gold Council&rsquo;s 2026 survey found that 89% of central banks expect global gold reserves to increase over the next 12 months, while 45% expect their own holdings to rise. At the same time, 74% of respondents expect the US dollar&rsquo;s share of global reserves to decline over the next five years. Ishmetov identified three strategic questions that still have no final answers: what level of concentration of a single asset is acceptable for a sovereign balance sheet, how reserve resilience should be built in practice, and what the strategic asset structure should look like if traditional relationships between assets have changed. &ldquo;We have our own views on all three questions.
