Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received senior security officials from member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on September 17. The meeting took place in Baku with representatives from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Participants included Azerbaijani Security Council Secretary Ramil Usubov, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of Türkiye’s National Security Council Okay Memiş, Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov, Kyrgyz Security Council Secretary Adilet Orozbekov, Deputy Chair of Kazakhstan’s Security Council Aida Balayeva and adviser to the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mehmet Ağa.

Addressing the meeting, Aliyev said the Organization of Turkic States has “very high international authority.” According to him, the OTS agenda includes international security, trade, transport, multiculturalism and humanitarian cooperation.

The Azerbaijani president said member states have significant potential and are committed to strengthening the organization’s role on the international stage. “The potential of our countries is substantial and continues to grow stronger,” he said.

Aliyev also highlighted the importance of energy security, saying it has become especially significant in the current international environment. He noted that the natural resources of OTS countries contribute to strengthening their economies, improving public welfare and supporting global energy security.

The president added that Azerbaijan has established joint investment funds with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, describing mutual investment mobilization as an active process.

“The Turkic world is our family, and we have no other family,” Aliyev said, calling cooperation with Turkic states Azerbaijan’s main foreign policy priority.
