During a meeting with teachers in the Bostanlyk district, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed special support to E’zozbek Ozodov, a young researcher, STEAM teacher at Interhouse Lyceum, and scholar at the National Research University “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” (TIQXMMI).

This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a dialogue with teachers on the eve of Teacher and Mentor Day, which connected more than 40,000 educators across the country. Today, 6.5 million children are studying in schools. This year, about 400,000 students completed the 9th grade, while 720,000 were admitted to the 1st grade. Over the past eight years, nearly 500 new schools have been built, creating 1 million additional student places. More than 200,000 children are enrolled in private schools. According to the President, the new exams will help each student define their path: around 400,000 ninth-graders will continue in vocational colleges, while those aiming for universities will study their chosen subjects in depth. Starting from the new academic year, Uzbekistan will introduce unified state exams for 9th and 11th grade students. Based on the results, graduates will be able to enter either vocational colleges or universities.

Over the past eight years, spending on education and science has increased sixfold, reaching 378 trillion soums. Nearly 500 new schools have been built, preschool coverage rose from 27% to 78%, and a system of Presidential schools and vocational colleges was established. The year 2026 has been declared the &ldquo;Year of Vocational Education.&rdquo; A new agency will be created, international standards introduced in 598 colleges, and the UK&rsquo;s BTEC program launched. Students will be able to earn international certificates in fields ranging from IT to biotechnology. Teachers will also benefit from new social incentives: partial mortgage payments, tuition discounts for their children, preferential loans for computers, and salary bonuses for national and international certificates. A national program was launched to prepare students for Ivy League universities in the US. This year, 1,500 students were selected and paired with over 200 mentors. Around 500 students attend three-week courses at the &ldquo;Renaissance&rdquo; camp, with the best 40 to be sent to Ivy League universities for exchange.
