Starting April 1, 2025, the exclusive rights of five major companies, including "Uzbekekspertize" and "UzEngineering," will be abolished in Uzbekistan. Now, privileges will be granted only in exceptional cases - to protect the safety, health of the population, and in emergency situations.

In Uzbekistan, the exclusive rights of a number of companies are being canceled
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on developing competition and strengthening the role of the private sector on February 28. Among the companies that have lost their monopoly rights are the National PR Center, "Sag agro MTP," and the Uzbekistan Standards Institute. These organizations will no longer be the only ones in their sphere, creating conditions for competition.

The abolition of exclusive rights is part of a large-scale reform. Now all such privileges will be granted for a period not exceeding 3 years and only on the basis of a law or presidential decree. State bodies should review the list of companies with monopoly rights annually and submit proposals for their cancellation.

The authorities are also continuing to demonopolize the market: from January 1, 2025, "Uzmetkombinat," "Uzvtortsvetmet," "Uztreyd," and "Uzkimyoimpeks" will lose their privileges, and from July 1, 2026, UzGasTrade and "Uzenergosotish" will lose their monopoly on the export and import of gas and electricity.

The reform is aimed at strengthening competition and creating equal conditions for business, which should lead to a reduction in prices and an improvement in the quality of services.
