It became known how many foreign citizens came to Uzbekistan for treatment in five months

The purposes of visits of foreign citizens who arrived in Uzbekistan with tourist purposes in the period from January to May this year were distributed as follows:

Visiting relatives: 2,237.4 thousand people

Tourism: 426.5 thousand people

For work: 68.4 thousand people

For commercial purposes: 51.5 thousand people

Treatment: 46.2 thousand people

Education: 7.4 thousand people

Earlier it was reported that 2.8 million foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes during the same period.

It is worth noting that in 2023, more than 60,000 foreign tourists were treated in sanatoria and medical centres of Uzbekistan.

At a video conference call chaired by the head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 3 June, it was decided to cover from the budget the costs of private clinics to undergo international certification and participate in foreign exhibitions. Value-added tax will be refunded to foreign patients visiting clinics. Also, doctors travelling abroad to provide advertising and diagnostic services will be reimbursed for transport and living expenses.
