Japanese Technologies for Tashkent: Business Forum Opens New Projects

An Uzbekistan–Japan business forum dedicated to the development of smart cities and urban technology implementation was held in Tashkent on March 4.
The event was organized by Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and served as a platform to discuss new directions of investment and technological cooperation.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasimov of the ministry.
The forum was attended by representatives of government agencies, Uzbekistan Agency for Perspective Projects, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, IT Park Uzbekistan and infrastructure organizations.
The Japanese side was represented by Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan Yoshimichi Terada, and the Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Kenji Hirata, along with major Japanese companies including Hankyu, Shimizu Corporation, Nikken Sekkei, Itochu, Marubeni, Sojitz Corporation and Oriental Consultants Global.
In 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached about 400 million USD. The number of enterprises with Japanese capital increased nearly tenfold over 8 years, reaching 130 companies.
The forum discussed joint projects in intelligent transport systems, municipal infrastructure modernization, digital urban environment monitoring, public transport development and sustainable urban planning.
