US Vice President Kamala Harris has surpassed former President Donald Trump in an American poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos on July 22 and 23. This is the first joint poll by the agency and the polling service after the current president, Joe Biden, exited the race.

According to the poll, 44% of voters are ready to vote for Harris in the November presidential election, while 42% of respondents support Trump. The difference between them is within the three-percentage-point margin of error, Reuters notes.

Additionally, about 56% of registered voters agreed with the statement that 59-year-old Harris "has a sharp mind and can handle difficulties." 49% of poll participants noted that they are willing to say the same about 78-year-old Trump. Only 22% of respondents rated 81-year-old Biden similarly.
