Kazakhstan and Oman Sign Eight Agreements and Exchange Top State Honors

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik Al Said have agreed to take bilateral relations to a new level. Following their talks, the two sides adopted a Joint Statement and exchanged eight intergovernmental and interagency documents.
In the presence of the two leaders, agreements were signed on the promotion and mutual protection of investments, air services, and the establishment of a joint investment structure between Samruk-Kazyna JSC and Oman Investment Authority.
Another agreement sets out the key terms of the joint Blue City Rixos project. The two sides also signed a memorandum on financial cooperation between their finance ministries, an agreement between Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish a Kazakhstan-Oman Business Council, and a strategic cooperation agreement on geological exploration between KazMunayGas and OQ Exploration & Production.
The eighth document was an agreement between the Eurasian Development Bank and the Government of Oman on the bank’s terms of presence in the Sultanate.
The Sultan of Oman highlighted opportunities for expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan in energy and mining, agriculture and food security, transport and logistics, financial services, tourism, technology and artificial intelligence.
Haitham bin Tarik Al Said placed particular emphasis on transport links. He noted that Kazakhstan holds a strategic position along major trade corridors connecting Asia and Europe, while Oman provides maritime access to key markets in the Gulf, the Indian Ocean, Asia and Africa. He highlighted the prospects for developing a trade corridor through Omani ports and strengthening air connectivity between the two countries.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev described the visit as historic, noting that it was the first state visit by a Sultan of Oman to Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The President highlighted the potential for cooperation in oil and gas, transport and logistics, digitalization, artificial intelligence and agriculture.
During the visit, Tokayev awarded Haitham bin Tarik Al Said the Altyn Kyran Order in recognition of his contribution to strengthening friendship between the two peoples. In turn, the Sultan of Oman awarded the Kazakh President Oman’s highest state honor, the Al Said Order. Haitham bin Tarik also invited Tokayev to visit Oman at a time convenient for him.
