Technology

Kyrgyzstan has launched its first national satellite into orbit. The spacecraft was launched on October 1 from the Vandenberg base in California aboard a Falcon 9 launch vehicle operated by SpaceX. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov attended the launch ceremony during his working visit to the United States.

Kyrgyzstan Launches Its First National Satellite into Orbit
The satellite was deployed into orbit as part of a group of spacecraft launched by a single carrier rocket. Its launch was the result of joint work between Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates. The spacecraft will be operated from a control center in Bishkek.

The launch gives Kyrgyzstan new opportunities to use space-based data across a range of sectors. The information collected will allow the country to monitor agricultural land, glaciers, water bodies, forests and pastures, as well as track changes in natural ecosystems.

Satellite data will also be used to identify illegal use of subsoil resources, unauthorized waste dumps and other sources of pollution. In addition, the information will support the optimization of logistics routes.

The first national satellite will therefore provide Kyrgyzstan with additional data for monitoring natural resources, the environment and economic processes. Its operation and control will be carried out from Bishkek.
