The semifinal was a tactical battle from the opening minutes. The turning point came in the 22nd minute when French defender Lucas Digne fouled Lamine Yamal inside the penalty area. Mikel Oyarzabal calmly converted the resulting penalty to give Spain the lead.

France attempted to respond, but Spain maintained control through disciplined possession and an impressive midfield display led by Rodri and Fabián Ruiz, who dominated the center of the pitch.

Spain doubled its advantage in the 58th minute when Pedro Porro finished a well-worked move following a precise pass from Dani Olmo, effectively putting the result beyond doubt.

France pushed forward in search of a comeback, but tactical changes made by Didier Deschamps failed to produce the desired effect. Key attacking players, including Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé, were unable to break down Spain's organized defense. The injury to central defender William Saliba in the first half further complicated France's task.

With the victory, Spain advanced to the World Cup final, where it will face the winner of the second semifinal between England and Argentina on 19 July. France will compete in the third-place playoff.
