The project is being organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan in partnership with the Museum of Islamic Art. It will be the first international exhibition in three decades to present the history of Uzbekistan through the formation of its contemporary cultural identity. The exhibition will bring together objects from leading museums and cultural institutions in Qatar and Uzbekistan. Highlights include the renowned Afrasiab mural, the Katta Langar Quran, rare manuscripts from the Institute of Oriental Studies, Bukhara ceramics, 19th&ndash;20th century national costumes, jewelry, silk textiles and works of traditional craftsmanship. The exhibition is structured around four thematic sections covering the ancient history of the region, architectural heritage, the intellectual achievements of Islamic civilization and the development of traditional crafts. Particular attention is given to Uzbekistan&rsquo;s historical role as a major center of science, culture and artistic production in the Islamic world, as well as to the legacy of the Samanid and Timurid eras. Historical heritage is presented alongside contemporary cultural development, highlighting the continuity of Uzbekistan&rsquo;s traditions in decorative arts, textiles and jewelry-making. The public program will feature lectures, workshops, demonstrations of traditional crafts and presentations on ikat art and silk production. From September 3 to 16, artist Davlat Toshev will lead a series of workshops on Eastern miniature painting and the &ldquo;Abru-Bahor&rdquo; technique for local artists and exhibition visitors as part of an artist residency program. Advance registration will be required. Established in 2017, the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan works to preserve and promote the country&rsquo;s cultural heritage. The Foundation has implemented international projects in more than 17 countries and collaborated with more than 40 international cultural institutions. The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha was established in 2008. The “Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion” exhibition will open at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha on September 3, 2026, presenting the history and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. The exhibition will trace the country’s heritage from the period preceding the spread of Islam in Central Asia to the present day and will remain open through November 28.

The meeting highlighted the steady strengthening of bilateral ties in recent years, supported by regular and close high-level dialogue between the two countries. According to Chinese authorities, the disaster occurred at around 10:30 a.m. The mudslide reached the area of the Gyirong border port, disrupting roads, communications and power supplies on the Chinese side. Drone observations showed that some buildings in the port area had been buried. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered all-out efforts to search for and rescue missing people, evacuate residents at risk and provide timely medical treatment to those injured. He also called for stronger monitoring and early-warning systems, scientific rescue operations and measures to prevent secondary disasters. Chinese Premier Li Qiang instructed authorities to quickly verify the number of people affected and missing, organize comprehensive rescue operations and evacuate residents from danger zones. He also called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen communication and coordination with relevant countries in handling the emergency. Specialized rescue forces have been deployed to the affected area. As of 5 p.m. on August 26, more than 140 armed police personnel equipped with professional rescue gear had been sent toward the site, while another force of more than 130 personnel and engineering equipment had been placed on standby for deployment. For safety reasons, authorities temporarily closed the road from Gyirong town toward the border port in both directions. Emergency rescue and support vehicles are exempt from the restriction. A mudslide that occurred on the Nepali side of the border on the morning of August 26 caused major disruption around the Gyirong border port in Gyirong County, Xigaze City, in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. Casualties and missing people have been reported, but authorities have not yet released an exact figure.

Polish company LPP is exploring opportunities to establish production in Uzbekistan in partnership with local companies. The issue was discussed on August 25 at a meeting between Akram Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Dorota Jankowska-Tomków, LPP’s Director of Procurement and ESG. The visit was first reported by U.S. media. It had not been officially announced in advance, but open-source Flightradar24 data tracked a U.S. military transport aircraft arriving in Moscow. The Washington Post reported that the aircraft remained in the Russian capital for about eight and a half hours. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Ratcliffe had traveled to Moscow for &ldquo;contacts between the security services.&rdquo; The Kremlin did not disclose what was discussed during the talks. According to Reuters, Peskov also said that President Vladimir Putin had been promptly briefed on the outcome of the contacts between the CIA director and Russian officials. The trip marked the first publicly known visit by a CIA director to Moscow since November 2021, when then-CIA Director William Burns met with Putin. Several U.S. media outlets placed Ratcliffe&rsquo;s visit in the broader context of U.S.-Russia relations, the war in Ukraine and tensions surrounding Iran. Financial Times and Axios reported that Washington had informed Kyiv in advance about the U.S. delegation&rsquo;s trip and asked Ukraine to limit attacks on Russian regions during the visit. Those reports, however, have not been officially confirmed by either the Kremlin or the CIA. For now, the confirmed elements are Ratcliffe&rsquo;s visit to Moscow, his contacts with Russian intelligence officials and the absence of a meeting with Putin.
