Media: CIA Warns Europe of Possible Russian Drone Attack

The CIA has warned several European governments of a possible Russian drone operation targeting Spain, France or Italy, El Mundo reported, citing sources. According to the report, the drones could potentially be launched from vessels in the Mediterranean Sea.
Sources said the aircraft could be the Gerbera drone, reportedly capable of a range of up to 600 km. The reported operation has not been independently confirmed.
El Mundo linked the warning to information obtained after CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s August 25 visit to Moscow. Several European defence analysts were also reportedly aware of the existence of a related intelligence report.
The newspaper noted that Spain, France and Italy are all due to hold elections in 2027. El Mundo sources suggested this could be a factor in the selection of potential targets, although there is no official confirmation of such Russian plans.
