Dmitry Medvedev has commented on the statement by a US State Department spokesman that Russia will not return the Alaska peninsula to Russia.

Medvedev reacted ironically to the US State Department's refusal to return Alaska to Russia
During a briefing on 22 January, US State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel said that Vladimir Putin would not get Alaska. He was responding to a journalist's question about an alleged decree signed by Putin that calls the sale of Alaska to the United States "illegal." However, the decree with the President's signature was not found on the portal where legal acts are published.

"According to a State Department representative, Russia is not getting back Alaska, which was sold to the U.S. in the 19th century. This is it, then. And we’ve been waiting for it to be returned any day. Now war is unavoidable," Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on his page in social network X.
