Modern Equipment for Small Hydropower Plants to be Manufactured in Andijan

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a project for the manufacture of equipment for small hydropower plants, currently being implemented in the Andijan district.
A key foundation for this project is the decree issued by the Head of State on March 28, 2025, aimed at developing a network of micro-hydropower plants across the regions. The "Andijon Jinlun Yangi Energiya" enterprise is being established as part of this initiative.
Such equipment is in high demand in Central Asian countries, which possess vast mountainous areas and abundant water resources. However, the region has long faced a shortage of specialized facilities capable of manufacturing this equipment on an industrial scale. The new project aims to meet this need.
The Andijan region's abundant water resources offer significant opportunities for the development of green energy. In particular, the steady flow of the Great Fergana Canal creates favorable conditions for the construction of micro- and small hydropower plants.
The total cost of the project, which is being funded entirely through foreign investment, is $20 million. The enterprise is set to reach full capacity in 2027. Once fully operational, it will produce 100 small hydropower plant units annually—with a total value of 70 billion soums—alongside equipment for micro-hydropower, machinery, and electrical products.
Amid rising global demand for clean, renewable energy, small and micro-hydropower plants are becoming increasingly sought-after as an effective solution. Their advantages include minimal environmental impact, short construction times, and stable electricity generation.
The project will create 200 new jobs. Plans are in place to export the enterprise's products to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, with the goal of bringing annual export volumes to $3 million.
Additionally, the enterprise plans to construct a number of micro-hydropower plants within the Andijan region. This will make it possible to supply the population and industrial enterprises with affordable, environmentally clean, and stable electricity.
