Continuing his visit to the Republic of Karakalpakstan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the renovated Turan Stadium in the city of Nukus.
The modernization of the complex has created new opportunities for the development of grassroots and professional football in the region, the identification of talented youth, and the improvement of athletes' training standards. This work was carried out in accordance with the objectives outlined in the Head of State’s resolution "On additional measures for the comprehensive development of grassroots and professional football," dated April 7, 2023.
The total cost of the project is 118.6 billion soums. The complex provides permanent employment for 85 people. As a result of the renovation, the stadium's capacity has increased from 9,300 to 12,000 seats.
Turan Stadium serves as the home base for the professional football club "Aral." Trainees from the Republican Football Academy—numbering 190—regularly hold training sessions and camps there. The complex also features two indoor sports halls and two additional playing fields.
Facilities created for the academy's trainees include a residential block with 196 beds, a canteen with a seating capacity of 84, gyms, and rooms for tactical analysis. Furthermore, conditions have been established to allow 100–150 athletes to engage in athletics, boxing, and taekwondo simultaneously.
The stadium is equipped with dedicated platforms for media representatives, mounting points for offside cameras, and a separate zone for a centralized VAR system. This infrastructure will enable the hosting of high-level competitions and ensure quality media coverage.
The Head of State inspected the facilities at the complex and issued recommendations and instructions regarding the further development of sports—particularly football—in Karakalpakstan. The President also had a warm conversation with the young athletes who were training there and posed for a photograph with them.
