NATO's largest maritime exercise Baltops 24 began on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reported citing the Polish Armed Forces.

‘More than 50 ships of various classes and types, 45 helicopters and aircraft, 9,000 troops are participating in this year's Baltops 24 exercise. The most important NATO maritime exercise in the Baltic Sea basin will start already on Wednesday, 5 June, in Klaipeda (Lithuania),’ the statement said.

The exercise will involve 20 countries of the North Atlantic Alliance: Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, Italy and the United States. Events will take place throughout the Baltic Sea basin as well as on land in Sweden, Poland, Germany and Lithuania.
