The new UK Defence Secretary John Healey has promised to allocate the military aid package promised by the previous UK government to Ukraine within 100 days. He made the statement during his visit to Odessa on Sunday, 7 July. His words were quoted by the website of the UK government.

In a city in southern Ukraine, Healey met with the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov. During his visit, the newly appointed minister reiterated his intention to step up the new British authorities' support for Kiev. "As the new Defence Secretary, I will ensure that we reinvigorate Britain's support by stepping up supplies of vital military aid," he said.

Labour Party leader Keir Starmer became Prime Minister of the UK and officially took office on 5 July. The position of Chancellor of the Exchequer of Great Britain was taken by Rachel Reeves. She became the first woman in history to hold the post. Angela Rayner, the new Prime Minister's deputy for the Labour Party, was appointed Deputy Prime Minister. Yvette Cooper became the new head of the Home Secretary, David Lammy was appointed Foreign Secretary and John Healey was appointed Defence Secretary.
