Nodirbek Abdusattorov claimed the silver medal at the prestigious Super Rapid and Blitz Croatia tournament, finishing the third stage of the 2026 Grand Chess Tour among the leaders of world chess.

Held in Zagreb from July 1 to 5, the event brought together ten of the world’s strongest grandmasters. After the rapid and blitz sections, the Uzbek star scored 23.5 points, level with France’s Alireza Firouzja.

A tiebreak was required to determine the champion. The first two playoff games ended 1–1, before Firouzja won the decisive game to secure first place.

Abdusattorov finished second, while another French grandmaster, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, took third place.

The Uzbek grandmaster earned $42,500 in prize money for his runner-up finish.

The result in Croatia marks another significant achievement for Abdusattorov on the international chess stage and further confirms his position among the world’s leading grandmasters.
