On December 29, 2024, the President signed Decree No. PQ-408 “On Measures to Improve the System of Supplying Medical Institutions with Pharmaceutical Products and Medical Equipment.”

According to the decree, starting January 1, 2025, state procurement of the following medicines and medical items will be allowed through direct contracts based on established procedures and lists:

original medicines (through the manufacturer or official supplier);

specialized reagents, reactants, and consumables for closed-type laboratory equipment;

medicines and medical items necessary for emergency and urgent medical care.

The Ministry of Health will establish a Procurement Center and 13 regional branches based on the state institutions "O‘zmedimpeks" and the "Educational and Production Center for Medical Equipment Services."

The Department for Combating Economic Crimes will ensure strict control over the legality and appropriateness of the procurement of medicines and medical products, as well as their targeted delivery.
