Pedro Martinho Takes the Helm at Korzinka After Three Decades in International Retail
Business
Pedro Martinho has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Anglesey Food, the company behind Uzbekistan's Korzinka supermarket chain. He officially assumed the role on September 2, 2026, after relocating to Tashkent following a long career in European grocery retail.
The appointment followed an international search conducted by the company's board of directors. Martinho brings more than 30 years of experience from leading grocery retail businesses in Poland, Portugal, the Baltic states and Azerbaijan.
A significant part of his career has been linked to Poland's Eurocash Group. He joined the group's leadership in 2003 and spent more than two decades contributing to the development of its retail and distribution businesses. His experience spans store networks, franchising, supply chains, merchandising and digital solutions. He has also held senior leadership roles at Frisco.pl, one of Poland's leading online grocery retailers.
Korzinka founder and Chairman of the Board Zafar Khashimov said Martinho's international experience would be important for the company's next phase of development. He noted that the executive had spent more than three decades helping retail businesses grow and scale in rapidly developing markets.
Martinho said he sees Uzbekistan as a market characterised by economic growth, rising consumer demand and significant long-term potential. He said he plans to work with the board and the company's team to support the further development of modern grocery retail across the country.
Korzinka's previous Chief Executive Officer, Rud Pedersen, stepped down in September 2025 for family reasons. During the transition period, First Deputy General Director Akmal Asadov served as interim head of the company.
