“Power of Unity – 2026” Drills Include Airborne Landings and Vessel Rescue Operations

Uzbekistan, Türkiye and Azerbaijan are continuing the “Power of Unity – 2026” joint military exercise, where servicemen from the three countries are carrying out practical tasks based on various training and combat scenarios. The drills involve ground units, aviation, artillery and naval forces, with a focus on coordination during joint operations.

During one of the stages, artillery units carried out fire strikes against strongpoints, shelters and other military targets of mock terrorist groups. Servicemen also conducted helicopter-borne landings, occupied operational positions and carried out missions to neutralize simulated terrorist groups. Particular attention was given to coordination between aviation assets and ground units, as well as to improving the participants’ practical skills.
Preparatory training for the next stage was held at the Boyuk Zira training area in Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea. Military personnel from all three countries took part, together with patrol and landing ships of the Azerbaijani Navy.
The participants practiced protecting maritime and coastal infrastructure, freeing a vessel and hostages seized by mock terrorists, clearing an area of mines, conducting a maritime landing on an island and destroying a simulated terrorist base. They also trained in providing first aid to wounded personnel and evacuating them.
The “Power of Unity – 2026” exercise began in Azerbaijan on September 22. Its activities are being conducted at the Gizilgaya and Garabaghlar training centers, as well as at the Boyuk Zira training area in the Caspian Sea. According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, one of the main objectives is to exchange experience in conducting special operations among the armed forces of friendly and allied states and to improve coordination between participating units.
