Political
On October 2, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, who had arrived in the country for an official visit.
Practical aspects of expanding Uzbek-Danish relations in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed.
The significant intensification of bilateral cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Last year, Uzbekistan appointed its first ambassador to Denmark, with residence in Stockholm. This year, the Danish side appointed a Special Representative for Central Asia.
Trade turnover has increased nearly fivefold in recent years. Joint projects involving leading Danish companies are being implemented in Uzbekistan across sectors such as mining, chemicals, the food industry, agriculture, water supply, and others.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of further increasing mutual trade volumes and attracting Danish investments, advanced technologies, and know-how to the energy, pharmaceutical, transport and logistics, and agro-industrial sectors, as well as other promising areas.
Significant potential for developing cooperation in education, culture, and tourism was also noted.
An exchange of views on pressing issues regarding the international and regional agenda also took place.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to further strengthen the institutional and legal framework for the systematic expansion of cooperation.
