President Orders Stronger Measures to Curb Inflation and Strengthen Food Security
The President reiterated that inflation should be contained by increasing the supply of goods and services. Only the Samarkand region succeeded in keeping inflation below the targeted 3% level during the first half of the year.

Particular attention was paid to the meat market. Meat prices rose by 6–8% between April and June, prompting the government to allocate 300 billion soums to subsidize the air transportation of imported meat. As a result, businesses from Tashkent city and Tashkent region imported 1,300 tonnes of meat, while other regions showed limited initiative. Regional authorities were instructed to review meat supply balances and develop clear import plans.

The agricultural census revealed that the cattle population had declined by 2.1 million head, while the number of sheep and goats fell by 1.5 million. To support livestock farming, 1 trillion soums has already been allocated, with an additional $50 million to be provided. By the end of the year, Uzbekistan plans to import 100,000 head of cattle and 150,000 sheep and goats. Subsidies for air transportation of imported meat have also been extended through the end of the year.

The meeting also addressed agricultural storage infrastructure. Due to shortcomings in the intervention system, 325,000 tonnes of potatoes remained unsold, while several regions have yet to commission modern cold storage facilities. The Government was instructed to launch 340 cold storage facilities with a total capacity of 87,000 tonnes by the end of the year and strengthen regional food reserves.

The President emphasized that continued uncertainty in the global economy requires readiness for various risks. To this end, an Economic Council and nine specialized working groups will be established. Together with analytical centers, they will prepare science-based proposals by 15 August, forming the basis for Uzbekistan's 2027 macroeconomic, budgetary, investment and export programs under a new "mobilization scenario" approach.
