Under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a video conference meeting has begun to utilize the existing opportunities in the leather and silk industries, ensuring employment for the population based on the experience of Saykhunabad. This was reported by his press secretary, Sherzod Asadov.
As noted, there is a need not only for current investments but also for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises that can create hundreds of jobs, produce export goods, and generate high income in neighbourhoods in the shortest possible time.
In this context, the local industry is the main reserve. Therefore, it was noted that there are problems requiring solutions in three key sectors - leather, carpet, and silk. For example, last year, the share of finished products in the export of the leather industry was only 30 percent.
Based on the aforementioned issues, it was emphasized that it is necessary to fundamentally change the activities of the Association "Uzcharmsanoat".
Earlier, we reported that on April 26, the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, employees of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the management of the Association "Uzcharmsanoat" held a roundtable discussion on the topic "Issues Arising in the Export of Leather and Footwear Products and Their Solutions."
