Putin and Trump Discuss Outcomes of Witkoff and Kushner Trips to Moscow and Kyiv

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a phone call to discuss the outcomes of US presidential special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s trips to Moscow and Kyiv. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said the conversation lasted exactly one hour and was constructive and very candid.
Ushakov said the presidents exchanged views on the results of the US representatives’ visits on September 5–6. The outcomes of their trips were assessed “positively,” and work through this channel will continue.
The conversation focused on the issue of a settlement in Ukraine. According to Ushakov, Trump clearly advocated bringing the conflict to an end as soon as possible. During the call, Putin stated that Russia had “no aggressive plans toward Europe.” The presidents also agreed to continue work on humanitarian issues, including exchanges of detained and convicted persons. Putin noted US First Lady Melania Trump’s efforts to return Russian and Ukrainian children to their families.
