Putin to Meet Erdoğan After SCO Summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Bishkek on September 1. The situation surrounding Ukraine, issues related to the Black Sea region and the further development of Russian-Turkish trade and economic ties are expected to be among the key topics.
The planned meeting was announced by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov. According to him, the talks will take place after the conclusion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, scheduled to be held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 1.
“A conversation with President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is planned. There are many issues to discuss, including the situation in the Black Sea basin and, more broadly, the Ukrainian issue,” Ushakov said.
In addition to international issues, the two leaders are expected to consider the further development of bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and economic relations.
Following the completion of the SCO summit programme, Putin will continue a series of bilateral meetings in Bishkek, with talks with Erdoğan forming part of that schedule.
