The Fatwa Committee of the Council of Muslim Religious Institutions of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) has determined during a meeting in Samarkand that the first day of Ramadan in 2026 will fall on Thursday, February 19, with Eid al-Fitr on Friday, March 20.

The joint decision underscores the commitment of Turkic states to strengthen the unity of their Muslim communities and preserve religious traditions in harmony with modern scientific understanding.

The committee meeting took place from February 2–4, 2026, under the leadership of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan, with participation from representatives of religious institutions from all OTS member states — Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan — as well as observers from Turkmenistan and Hungary.

The committee includes representatives from member and observer muftiates, ensuring a unified approach to religious practices and the Islamic holiday calendar across the region.
