Released Prisoners to Receive 2 250 000 UZS in Financial Assistance
Uzbekistan
According to the Presidential decree, starting from May 1, 2025, individuals released from places of detention will receive a one-time allowance of 2 250 000 UZS.
Former prisoners face numerous challenges when reintegrating into society. Finding a job, obtaining necessary documents, and securing stable living conditions make their return to normal life difficult. The financial aid provided by the government is specifically aimed at easing these challenges.
This allowance will be distributed through the "Inson" social service centers, which play a crucial role in ensuring legal and social support for released individuals.
Uzbekistan is continuing large-scale reforms in its social protection system. According to the presidential decree, starting May 1, 2025:
Expenses for medical treatment and surgeries will be financed through the State Medical Insurance Fund.
The benefit system for low-income families will be improved.
A new subsidy system will be introduced to improve water supply for underprivileged families.
Additionally, support for released prisoners goes beyond financial assistance. Special attention is given to their intellectual and moral development. According to a proposal by the "National Revival" party, each book read by a prisoner will reduce their sentence by three days. This not only enhances the cultural and intellectual environment in prisons but also helps former inmates become more knowledgeable and independent citizens, ready to reintegrate into society.
