“Samarqand-2028” Being Prepared for Launch into Space
Technology
Uzbekistan is taking another step toward developing its own space infrastructure as work begins on the new hyperspectral satellite “Samarqand-2028”, created in partnership with China.
Uzbekcosmos, together with the Chinese company STAR.VISION, has launched the development of the hyperspectral satellite “Samarqand-2028”. The project is being implemented at production facilities in China and is expected to significantly expand Uzbekistan’s capabilities in Earth observation.
The satellite is named in honor of the International Astronautical Congress, which will be held in Samarkand in 2028 and is set to become one of the major scientific events in the region.
A dedicated artificial-intelligence module for the spacecraft will be developed by specialists from Uzbekcosmos, enabling onboard data processing and improving the speed and efficiency of information acquisition.
