The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is systematically reinforcing its position as a fundamental guarantor of security and economic integration across the Eurasian continent, showcasing its geographical center as a premier platform for global dialogue. A major International Conference titled "Central Asia – the Core of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: A Space of Peace and Joint Development" was convened, timed to coincide with the landmark 25th anniversary of the Organization's establishment. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan alongside the Academy of Public Administration and the SCO Center for Friendship and Cooperation, the forum's political foundation traces back to the historic Dushanbe Twentieth Anniversary Declaration. Opening the session, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin explicitly emphasized the vital necessity of transforming the region into a zone of strategic stability and sustainable economic growth.
The plenary session facilitated a profound exchange of views among senior diplomats from member states, including Uzbekistan, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and Russia. The agenda was further bolstered by official video addresses from the UN leadership and the SCO Secretary-General. A key element of the deliberations was the active engagement of heads from leading international bodies—such as the CIS, CSTO, CICA, and ECO—alongside specialized UN agencies including UNESCO, FAO, and ESCATO. The delegates unanimously recognized the SCO as an irreplaceable platform for crafting consolidated responses to contemporary transboundary challenges, while reaffirming their steadfast commitment to the principles of indivisible security, equality, and mutual respect for national interests.
