The council held its first meeting at the Dubai Chamber headquarters. Maha Al Gergawi, Vice President of the Dubai Chamber for Business Advocacy, said the new body would provide an important platform for strengthening trade and investment ties and creating new opportunities for cooperation across different sectors. Maksumov said the council should serve as a practical platform where entrepreneurs can find reliable partners, investors can identify new opportunities, and companies from both countries can grow together. He said the organization would contribute to the further development of trade, investment and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE. Interest from Uzbek businesses in Dubai continues to grow. In 2025, non-oil trade between Dubai and Uzbekistan reached AED 10.3 billion. The number of Uzbek companies among Dubai Chamber members increased by 21.3% to 826. During the first half of 2026, another 75 Uzbek companies joined the chamber. According to Uzbekistan&rsquo;s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, more than 450 companies with UAE capital are operating in the country. Substantial package of documents adopted to strengthen Uzbek-Korean partnership

The presentation was delivered during the &ldquo;New Pathways to Nuclear Energy&rdquo; session as part of a working visit by an Uzatom delegation on September 10&ndash;11. The project is being implemented as part of reforms aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan&rsquo;s energy security. Participants positively assessed Uzbekistan&rsquo;s systematic approach to developing the sector, including institution-building, long-term planning, the creation of a regulatory and infrastructure framework, and the involvement of international expertise. Lassina Zerbo, Adviser to the President of Rwanda and Chairman of the Rwanda Atomic Energy Council, described Uzbekistan&rsquo;s experience as relevant for developing countries and highlighted Uzatom&rsquo;s role as the sector&rsquo;s single coordinator. The symposium also provided an opportunity for bilateral talks with international partners. Discussions with France&rsquo;s Orano focused on cooperation in the nuclear fuel cycle and the management of spent nuclear fuel. The sides agreed to continue consultations and arrange a visit by Uzbek specialists to relevant facilities in France. Meetings with the leadership of the WNA and the World Nuclear University covered Uzbekistan&rsquo;s prospects for full membership in the association, regional cooperation in Central Asia and educational programmes. Uzbekistan was also included among candidates to host university events. Talks with AtkinsR&eacute;alis focused on CANDU reactor technology and the feasibility of applying it in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan and Rwanda also confirmed their interest in exchanging expertise and holding joint familiarization programmes. At the 51st World Nuclear Symposium of the World Nuclear Association (WNA) in London, the country showcased an integrated nuclear power plant model combining high-capacity VVER-1000 power units with small modular RITM-200N reactors.

In the Kyzyltepa, Karmana and Nurata districts, the group assessed the socio-economic situation of vulnerable families and measures to help them move out of poverty. A census of unemployed citizens and low-income families has begun. Narbaeva stressed that poverty reduction should move away from a general approach and instead take into account the capabilities, needs and problems of each family. The priority is to create a stable source of income rather than provide one-time financial assistance. To strengthen oversight, 270 deputies of regional, district and city Councils have been assigned to 310 mahallas. Working groups also include representatives of the Association of Mahallas, the Nuroniy Foundation, the Committee for Family and Women, the Youth Affairs Agency, the National Agency for Social Protection and trade unions. Authorities have also been tasked with making more effective use of more than 18,000 vacancies available in the region. Entrepreneurial projects were also reviewed. SVS NAVOIY is implementing a $40 million project to produce cotton gloves with a latex coating. Once operating at full capacity, the facility is expected to create 700 jobs and generate $15 million in annual exports. In Nurata, an embroidery enterprise has provided permanent employment to 200 unemployed people and women returning from labor migration. Its products are sold domestically and in the United States and T&uuml;rkiye. Fourteen guest houses have been established in the Sayidato mahalla, while baker Khadicha Gaybullayeva used a preferential loan of 19 million soums to launch production of 450&ndash;500 flatbreads a day, creating income for five women. The Malika Karvon Family Park eco-park was also reviewed. The leaders discussed the further development and deepening of the Uzbek-Korean special strategic partnership. Warmly welcoming the President of Uzbekistan, President Lee Jae Myung described the current visit as an important event in the history of Uzbek-Korean relations, which have traditionally been based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect. In turn, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that over the years, the Republic of Korea has become a reliable friend and one of Uzbekistan&rsquo;s most important economic partners. In this context, the leaders noted with satisfaction the growth in trade and investment. More than 700 joint ventures with Korean capital operate in Uzbekistan. Major companies such as Samsung, LG, Lotte, Young One, BOMI, KIA, and many others are represented in the Uzbek market. Flagship projects include KIA vehicle production in Jizzakh region, the National Children&rsquo;s Medical Center, the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex at the Surgil field, and many other projects. In cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Korea Eximbank, and the EDCF Fund, dozens of projects are being implemented in medicine and healthcare, industry, ICT, agriculture and water management, energy, infrastructure, and education. During the talks, the leaders noted the need to intensify contacts between the two countries at the level of parliaments, ministries and agencies, regional administrations, and business communities. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined five priority areas for further expanding economic cooperation with the Republic of Korea. These include deepening trade ties, increasing investment, and developing cooperation in critical minerals, transport, and infrastructure. Following the results of the current visit, the investment portfolio is taking on a new scale: promising projects worth approximately $12 billion have been prepared. An $8 billion strategic partnership program with the Korea Eximbank has been adopted. The parties paid particular attention to building a strong innovation and technology alliance based on advanced Korean technologies and the resource and industrial potential of New Uzbekistan. It was proposed to focus the alliance on information technology, cybersecurity, and advanced and digital technologies in medicine, healthcare, and pharmaceutical production. The parties expressed readiness to develop military-technical cooperation, including by expanding interagency contacts, organizing joint events, and training military specialists. The leaders highly praised the first-ever Interregional Forum held on the eve of the visit and agreed to hold the next forum in Samarkand. During the talks, the sides focused on deepening cooperation in education and professional training. They noted with satisfaction that four branches of South Korean universities operate in Uzbekistan, training highly qualified specialists in pedagogy, IT, engineering, digital technologies, and other priority areas of the modern economy. In addition, five vocational training centers established with the assistance of KOICA operate successfully in Uzbekistan, providing young people with broad opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills and realize their potential. The sides emphasized the important role of the bilateral Forum of Rectors in exchanging practical experience in personnel training. They noted that cultural exchanges are particularly important for the development of bilateral relations, as they contribute to deepening mutual understanding and strengthening ties of friendship between the two peoples. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that &ldquo;the large Korean diaspora is an integral part of Uzbekistan&rsquo;s multinational family and serves as a &lsquo;spiritual bridge&rsquo; between our countries and peoples.&rdquo; To further develop these special humanitarian ties, the parties agreed to declare 2027 the &ldquo;Year of Culture and Mutual Exchanges&rdquo; and hold joint cultural and humanitarian events.
