Suspects in German Navy Corvette Sabotage Detained

German intelligence services have arrested two suspects in sabotage acts on German Navy warships. A 37-year-old Romanian and a 54-year-old Greek allegedly damaged equipment and systems on two corvettes at the Hamburg shipyard, including engines, fuel tanks, and electronics.

The arrests took place in Hamburg and a village in Greece. According to materials cited by Bild newspaper, the suspects acted on two corvettes, small warships of the German Navy.

Investigators reported that the individuals allegedly placed explosives in the engine block of one corvette, damaged freshwater pipelines, removed fuel tank covers, and disconnected onboard electronic fuses.

In addition to the arrests, searches were conducted at the suspects’ homes in Hamburg, Romania, and Greece. The investigation is ongoing, and details about motives and potential accomplices have not yet been disclosed.
