Tajikistan and Mongolia Elevate Bilateral Cooperation to a New Level

Tajikistan and Mongolia have taken another step toward strengthening bilateral ties by signing 12 agreements following talks between Presidents Emomali Rahmon and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. The package covers a broad range of areas, including transport, education, environmental protection, investment, and agriculture.
During the Tajik president's state visit to Mongolia, the two leaders adopted a Joint Statement on expanding friendly relations and cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral partnership.
The signed documents include agreements on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports and international road transport, as well as memoranda on education, vocational training, youth policy, sports, plant quarantine, geological research, mining, exports, and investment promotion.
A strong emphasis was also placed on environmental cooperation. The parties signed a memorandum on pasture restoration, glacier protection, climate change adaptation, and combating desertification, and approved a 2026–2028 roadmap for cooperation in agriculture and food security.
Following the talks, the two presidents described the agreements as an important step toward strengthening political, economic, and humanitarian ties. The visit also featured the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a Tajik-Mongolian business forum, and Days of Tajik Culture in Mongolia, highlighting the growing scope of bilateral engagement.
