The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a working meeting with the Chairman of the "Serbia – Uzbekistan" inter-parliamentary cooperation group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Markovic. The parties noted that owing to the high level of trust between the leaders of the two states, the Uzbek-Serbian partnership demonstrates steady growth dynamics, while regular contacts both on a bilateral basis and within international structures have recently become noticeably more active. During the talks, specific attention was institutionalized toward the practical execution of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the National Assembly of Serbia, which laid the foundation for long-term cooperation. To enhance interaction efficiency, the parties discussed the preparation of a dedicated roadmap for the inter-parliamentary groups.

A crucial vector of the discussion was the coordination of joint actions concerning the legislative support of agreements reached at the highest state level. In this context, the Serbian side highly praised the Uzbek model of public governance, drawing particular attention to the unique experience of developing the mahalla institution and its pivotal role in providing targeted social support to the population and strengthening local dialogue. Alongside this, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to further advance parliamentary diplomacy and foster contacts through youth parliaments. As a practical step toward deepening professional exchange, Tanzila Narbaeva invited the parliamentarians of Serbia to participate in the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, scheduled to take place on September 4–6, 2026, in Samarkand.
