Tanzila Narbayeva and Natalya Kochanova Discuss Expanding Uzbekistan-Belarus Cooperation

Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, met with Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus. The talks took place on the sidelines of the fourth Uzbek-Belarusian Interparliamentary Forum, held on 29–30 September 2026.
The sides discussed further development of interparliamentary dialogue and expanded engagement between the legislative bodies of the two countries. Particular attention was paid to regular exchanges of experience, stronger contacts between parliamentary committees and the work of interparliamentary cooperation groups.
Trade and economic cooperation was another key area of the meeting. The sides considered opportunities to expand cooperation and implement joint projects in agriculture, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering and textiles. These areas are among the key sectors of industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
The participants also exchanged views on organised labour migration and employment. They discussed the importance of ensuring lawful working conditions and protecting and guaranteeing the labour, medical and social rights of citizens.
The sides highlighted the importance of direct contacts between business communities and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting business initiatives. Particular attention was given to creating favourable conditions for further growth in mutual trade and the practical implementation of agreements reached at Uzbek-Belarusian business forums.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue efforts to develop interparliamentary cooperation, strengthen interregional ties and support entrepreneurs. They also intend to expand cooperation within international parliamentary organisations and platforms.
The Belarusian delegation’s visit is taking place as part of the fourth Uzbek-Belarusian Interparliamentary Forum. The programme includes a meeting of the interparliamentary commission, a meeting of heads of local representative bodies, a joint session of parliamentary youth councils and a final plenary session.
The meeting continues the parliamentary dialogue between Uzbekistan and Belarus and focuses on translating bilateral agreements into practical cooperation in trade, industry, regional ties and support for business initiatives.
