During the talks, the sides discussed issues related to the development of Uzbek-British inter-parliamentary co-operation.
Within the framework of the working delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, talks were organised with the Speaker of the House of Lords of the British Parliament John McFall.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of expanding political and diplomatic dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, developing trade and economic ties and cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
Taking into account the ongoing changes in the UK, Uzbekistan and the world in general, special attention was paid to the activation of inter-parliamentary dialogue. It was noted that it is necessary to exchange experience in the spheres of adopting laws, exercising parliamentary control and conducting visits of parliamentarians in order to strengthen mutual ties and close relations, as well as to establish constructive co-operation within the framework of international parliamentary structures.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that, based on the negotiations and agreements reached, a plan of practical measures for cooperation will be developed.
